The Vietnam Electronic Visa (Vietnam E-visa) is an entry permit that allows foreign nationals to enter the country for up to 90 days, with either single-entry or multiple-entry validity. Applicants can submit the e-visa application online through Vietnam’s official portal and will receive the result via email.
An electronic visa (e-visa) is a type of electronic entry procedure issued by the Immigration Department to foreigners through an electronic transaction system. This procedure allows foreigners to enter Vietnam once or multiple times, with a validity period not exceeding 90 days.
Individuals abroad who intend to enter Vietnam can apply for an electronic visa directly or through requesting agencies or organizations.
The electronic visa processing fee is paid through an electronic payment gateway as regulated by the Immigration Department and is non-refundable if the visa application is unsuccessful.

When is the appropriate time to apply for a Vietnam e-Visa?
If your itinerary is confirmed and there will definitely be no changes, you can apply for an e-Visa right away.
However, you need to note that you will not be able to change the entry date on the declared e-Visa. Therefore, the appropriate time to apply for a Vietnam e-Visa is about 2 weeks before the trip.
I have a Vietnam E-visa that expires on July 10th, but I want to apply for a new E-visa and continue staying in Vietnam with the new E-visa without having to exit. Is this possible?
No. You are required to exit Vietnam and apply for a new visa. Because according to regulations, electronic visas are only valid for 90 days and cannot be converted or extended. After you are granted a new E-visa, you will be allowed to re-enter Vietnam with the new E-visa.
How many times can I get an E-visa in 1 year?
You can only apply for an E-visa up to 4 times in 1 year. However, you should consider your entry purpose and choose the appropriate visa type to avoid being suspected and refused entry to Vietnam.
If I have applied for an E-visa but haven’t received results yet, can I change the information?
Once you have applied for an E-visa and successfully made payment, you cannot modify the information anymore. Therefore, you need to carefully and thoroughly check the information before proceeding to the payment step.
Can I enter at a different border gate than the information on the E-visa?
After August 15th with the new Decree, E-visas do not display the entry port. Therefore, you can completely enter through a different border gate. Note that the entry port must be on the list of border gates that allow E-visa entry.
I entered Vietnam with a business E-visa, so now can I apply for a work permit in Vietnam?
For business E-visas, information about the inviting company such as company name, address, and phone number will be clearly displayed on the E-visa result, helping foreigners easily apply for work permits in Vietnam through the conversion category.
After obtaining a work permit, foreigners can convert the business E-visa to a sticker visa sponsored by the enterprise. Once having a sticker visa sponsored by the enterprise, foreigners can apply for a temporary residence card in Vietnam.
Can Chinese citizens with E-passports apply for Vietnam E-visa?
According to the latest Decree No. 127 of the Government applied from August 15th, Chinese citizens with E-passports can still apply for a visa to obtain a 3-month visa to enter Vietnam for tourism!
Previously, Chinese citizens with E-passports who wanted to enter Vietnam were required to apply for an entry clearance letter. However, according to the latest Decree No. 127 applied from August 15th, Chinese citizens with E-passports can still apply for e-visas to enter Vietnam for tourism!
Can I enter with an E-visa if my passport is valid for less than 6 months?
According to Vietnamese law, one of the conditions for entry into our country is that the passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining and must be at least 30 days from the previous exit from Vietnam.
Therefore, if your passport is valid for less than 6 months, you should renew your passport or apply for a new passport, and simultaneously apply for a new E-visa with the new passport number to avoid trouble when entering Vietnam.
