Do German Citizens Need a Visa to Enter Vietnam?

The government has recently issued Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023 ^[1] , amending Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, regarding visa exemption for citizens of 13 countries on Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption list. These citizens will not need to apply for tourist or business visas to enter Vietnam for a period of 45 days.

Therefore, if German citizens only stay in Vietnam for less than 45 days, they do not need to apply for a visa. However, if German citizens need to stay beyond this period, they must apply for a visa to continue their stay.

Requirements for Entry Approval Letter

Foreign nationals must be outside of Vietnam, not within Vietnamese territory

Foreign nationals must have a valid passport

Those falling under cases not yet permitted entry as stipulated in Article 21 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam will not be able to obtain an electronic visa

Requirements for Electronic Visa (E-visa)

01 original electronic visa application form according to form NA1a issued with Circular No. 22/2023/TT-BCA of the Ministry of Public Security (available on the electronic visa information page, Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security, or National Public Service Portal)

01 scanned copy of the personal information page in the passport uploaded to the Electronic Visa Information Page as required

For Entry Approval Letter

► General Documents:

Valid passport with at least 6 months validity (scanned copy)

Entry approval letter application form for foreigners (form NA2)

► Additional Documents for Company Sponsorship:

Notarized copies of business registration documents, licenses, investment certificates of the sponsoring company/organization

Notarized copy of tax registration certificate of the sponsoring company/organization

Birth certificates, etc.

Passport of the sponsor

ID card/Citizen identification of the sponsor

Entry approval letter application form for relatives sponsored by Vietnamese nationals (NA3)

Household registration/CT07 of the sponsor

Company seal registration form and initial signature at the Immigration Department (form NA16)

Digital signature USB (Token) of the sponsoring company

Letter of introduction or authorization from the sponsoring company/organization

Citizen identification/ID card of the person submitting documents
